Mountain Art Association About the MAA and
|
Mountain Art Association... The Mountain Arts Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create and support a community wide hub for the furtherance of art related exhibitions, educational events, and appreciation in the mountain communities of North Georgia and Western North Carolina. The Hiawassee Festival of Arts is only one of the many things our organization does. In 2005, MAA hosted four lectures on a variety of topics, including enameling, flower arranging, glass blowing with David Goldhagen, and watercolors with Ann Vasilik. A Children's Workshop series was also introduced. Members Kathy Chastain and Pat Neubert taught watercolors and basket weaving. A holiday workshop was also held for children. The Mountain Arts Association collaborates with the Georgia Mountain Fair in the craft festival part of their annual fair. The MAA also grants scholarships to local students who are planning to continue their education in the arts. In 2005, we granted three $1000 scholarships to students from surrounding counties. This year, we are looking forward to increasing the support for our festival, expanding our workshop and lecture series, and providing more opportunities for our local youth. Contact Information...
